How much does it cost?
Team numbers cost $310–$390 depending on level (this is per team, not per student). Teams may also spend up to ~$300 on materials for their challenge solution. Team Managers need a background check ($20).
All in, the estimated cost is roughly $110–$124 per student for a full team of 7 members — less than most youth activities per season.
What ages can participate?
DI offers four competition levels: Rising Stars (K-2), Elementary (3-5), Middle (6-8), and Secondary (9-12). Non-competitive options are also available.
Do I need experience?
No! DI is designed for teams of all experience levels. Team Managers guide teams through the process, and training resources are available for everyone.
What is Interference?
DI's "Interference-Free" policy means that team members must create their solutions on their own. Adults can teach skills, but cannot do the work for them.
